OUR PASTOR
Rev. DeBora M. Duckett, M.Div.
Rev. DeBora M. Duckett is a spirit-filled woman, who has taken the
commandment to make disciples seriously from the time she accepted her calling.
Ordained as an Itinerant Deacon by the Bishop McKinley Young at the 183rd
Session of the Ohio Annual Conference and an Itinerant Elder at the 191st Session
of the Ohio-South Ohio Annual Conference by Bishop Errenous McCloud, she is
one who loves God first, and naturally because of that love, cannot help but love
God’s people. Having previously served as Pastor of St. Paul A.M.E., Cedarville,
OH for seven years, she was appointed to serve as Pastor of Central Chapel
A.M.E., Yellow Springs, OH in late December 2021. She also presently serves
Third Episcopal District as the Christian Education Director.
Pastor Duckett firmly believes in the power of the Holy Spirit to guide, correct and reveal God's plan. She adamantly believes in the authority of the written word of God, meaning it carries divine authority, spiritual and practical truths.
Originally a member of the Second Episcopal District, she credits her ministerial mentorship to the guidance of Rev. Dr. John E. Freeman, former Pastor of United A.M.E. Church, Xenia, Ohio and his wife, Rev. Brenda Freeman, Pastor of Cyrene A.M.E. Church, Cyrene, Ohio. Raised in Fort Washington, Maryland she bears witness that it was her parents, the late James B. (Sr.) and Gladys M. Duckett, who first taught her, by example, to worship, have faith
in and respect Christ as Lord.
She is a graduate of the historic Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio.
She also holds a Bachelor’s degree from Wilberforce University in Organizational
Management. She also holds a certification in Church Administration and Finance
through the NICFA program at Candler School of Theology at Emory University,
Atlanta, GA; Understanding that the business of church serves as the foundation that undergirds the work of ministry, community outreach, relevant biblical teaching and being evangelist and disciples for Christ.
She is often called upon to facilitate women's, youth and community workshops and bible studies within our region. She is a recipient of the “Ohio Conference Living Witness Clergy Award” for service and dedication in ministry within the A.M.E. church. She is presently employed as an administrator and grant coordinator at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio with the Division of Student Affairs.
Rev. DeBora unwaveringly lives by the words of Peter, “That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:7
Remembering that …For He Alone Is Worthy!
